Hi everyone,

Here are details regarding the next monthly club ride this Sunday.
Date/Time: 8th January, 9.30am
Duration: 2 - 2.5 hours (approx)
Start/Finish Venue: Village Hotel, Dolomite Ave. Coventry

Please note: While it has been generally been very mild, such that we might not know we are in the middle of winter, if conditions turn cold and icy (or otherwise bad), the ride as a Coventry Triathletes club ride will be necessarily cancelled.

This month we have three loops provisionally planned and three ride leaders already scheduled. Each of the three loops heads out North West towards Corley Moor and beyond before returning back.

-As usual the code of conduct for club rides can be found in the gallery. It provides some useful information on group riding and I urge everyone (novices and experienced cyclists alike) to have a look:
http://www.covtri.co.uk/index.php?action=mgallery;sa=media;id=311;dl

In particular, please note the following:
  • This is designed to be a fun, sociable group ride for members of ALL abilities, so we ride as a group.  Even though there is a ride leader, it is everyone’s responsibility in the group to watch out for other members and make sure no one is left behind for any reason without clear agreement within the group.
  • In order to make the rides successful and enjoyable for all, every participant needs to think carefully about their ability and endurance - what speed can you comfortably and realistically maintain for 2.5 hours? What nutrition will you need, perhaps take a little bit extra just in case?
  • If you want to do the club ride, but are uncertain as to which route you should do, then please do not hesitate to contact me, or one of the other coaches. The group rides are designed to be an accessible, fun and enjoyable social ride for all whether you are a novice or an experienced cyclist.
  • If you plan on riding with a mountain bike, please do contact me beforehand so that we can ensure the suitability of the ride for all.

The three loops:

For the enjoyment of everyone, please ensure that you stick and work together as a group, for whichever group you are with.

Following the ride we will meet back at the cafe for a well earned cup of tea and cake.

Many thanks to all of those who have volunteered to help out. If you would be interested in being a ride leader in the future please contact me, or one of the other coaches.

Hope to see you all there.

Kind regards,
Matt

Hi everyone,

Here are details regarding the monthly club social ride, this Sunday.
Date/Time: 5th February, 08.30
Duration: 2 - 2.5 hours (approx)
Start/Finish Venue: Village Hotel, Dolomite Ave. Coventry

Please note: Currently the weather forecast for Saturday night/Sunday morning is for snow and subzero temperatures.  If this remains the case then the rides will be cancelled, for safety reasons.  We will confirm whether or not the rides will go ahead around Saturday (tomorrow) lunchtime.

This month we have three loops planned and three ride leaders already scheduled. Each of the three loops heads out towards Southam and then heads in a clockwise loop back through Leamington Spa.

-As usual the code of conduct for club rides can be found in the gallery. It provides some useful information on group riding and everyone is urged to have a look (novices and experienced cyclists alike): http://www.covtri.co.uk/index.php?action=mgallery;sa=media;id=311;dl

    * If you want to do the club ride, but are uncertain as to which route you should do, then please do not hesitate to contact Matt (Club Ride Coordinator), or one of the other coaches. The group rides are designed to be an accessible, fun and enjoyable social ride for all whether you are a novice or an experienced cyclist.
    * If you plan on riding with a mountain bike, please do contact Matt beforehand so that we can ensure the suitability of the ride for all.

The three loops:

    * The shorter loop is about 26 miles and will be led by Mike Bennett, http://www.bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=347233. This will be easy paced at the speed of the slowest.
    * The medium length loop is about 31 miles and will be led by Dave Grant, http://www.bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=347232. This will be paced around 14 - 15 mph average.
    * The longest length loop is about 38 miles and will be led by Matt Knight, http://www.bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=347225. This will be paced around 16 - 18 mph average.

For the enjoyment of everyone, please ensure that you stick and work together as a group, for whichever group you are with.

Just to confirm that the club rides tomorrow, Sunday 5th February are now CANCELLED, for safety reasons due to the high risk of snow/ice.  Please spread the word to avoid unnecessary journeys.

The planned routes will now be rescheduled for the March rides.

Hi Amanda and Ed,

I have noticed on the Events that stated that we are required to meet at Village Hotel this SUNDAY 16th Sept at 08:30hrs - is that correct, if so can you please email back without delay so that I can be fully prepared for it?

Thanks

Alex.

Hi Alex,

The ride is definitely not this Sunday (16th).  It was due to be this weekend, but unfortunately we had to change this at short notice.  I have now updated the date on the Events page.  We are still in the process of confirming details for the next ride, but hopefully it will be on the 23rd.  We will be in touch asap.

Regards,

Amanda

Unfortunately, we are struggling with ride leaders for this Sunday (23rd) as well.  It looks like the poor September ride is not going to happen.

Hopefully, normal service can resume in October.

Next social ride is this Sunday, 4th November.

Departing from the Village Hotel at 09:00.  **Please note the later start time**

This month there will be two groups, one led by Andy Creeden and the other led by Steve Bottomley.  One group will be riding at approximately 15-17 mph, the other will be at a slower pace determined by the riders present.  Each group will be riding for about 2 hours, followed by cake/coffee.
