The Club Championships will take place at Roade Triathlon again this year. This takes place on Sept 26th. So get the date in your diary .
 
Last year more than 20 spots raced against each other in our club handicap championship and it was a great day out.

In case you don't know a handicap is a bit like golf where everyone is allocated a handicap based on previous performances.  And means that you don’t have to be the fastest person over the ground to win – its more about how well you perform against your previous personal performances.

There are first female and first male prizes.

Roade is a big race with 500 people competing. We had our own Spotty start which meant that we all got to start at the same time regardless of our swim times.  We even had a good social and nosh at the local pub afterwards.

We also had a discount funded by the club, and negotiated with the organiser so don't enter until more details of this are announced.

The race organisers are giving us an early start so all our club competitors can compete against each other.

We want to encourage as many club members to participate in the Club Championship so the club is subsidising entry fees to the tune of £5.

If you wish to participate in the Club Championship you need to: -

1. Download the entry form

2. Fill in your details but write 'early wave' in the 'Estimated Swim time (400m)' box on the entry form

3. Make out a cheque payable to 'Coventry Triathletes'.
If you are a British Triathlon home nation member the cheque amount will be £26.
If you are NOT a British Triathlon home nation member the cheque amount will be £31.

4. Post your entry & cheque to: -

5. e-mail me your sprint triathlon times so I can work out your handicap time.
If you raced at Roade last year but haven't done a sprint tri race since then I will use last years time. If you can't provide me with a sprint tri time by race day a time of 1hr 15mins will be used.

The race is filling up fast, they already have double the entries that they had by this time last year so please get your entry to me a.s.a.p.

Cheque in post - Delboy style.

My cheque is in the post - has anyone got any advice on Trentham?
I'm doing the half ironman as a relay. I'm doing the swimming leg. It says it's 500m to the cycle - should I just pull the top off my wetsuit and run or take the whole thing off?? When i get to the bike my race is done.

When I am racing with a long transition I always take my wetsuit off as soon as I can so that I can run properly. especially as i'm rubbish at running. And this is certainly what i did at trentham and it seemed like a long way.

they normally have an extra shoe transition coming out of the lake too so make you put your shoes on before reaching bike transition. So i guess it depends how quick you can get your wetsuit off and how fast you are at running in your wetsuit.

Just Racing have confirmed that last year they had to close entries 2weeks early & this year they already have 100 more entries than this time last year.

They have advised that we get our entries in early to avoid disappointment.

cool... if general entries are still open you should still be able to get a covtri entry in via steve.
