Despite the beautiful summer-like day outside, winter is coming fast and for me at least it's time to cast off the lycra, grab some baggy shorts and get gnarly. Anyone up for a little trip up to Cannock Chase for some following the dog and chasing the monkey? Date TBD - probably an early (and I mean early) start on a weekend. It's about a 13mile loop with lots of hills, bumps and turns and a lot of fun. Just don't try it on a TT bike  Wink

Just getting an idea of potential interested parties at this stage...

I'd be interested, but I've not really done any off road cycling before.  Is the route suitable for beginners?

Both follow the dog and the monkey trail are red graded, which isn't a beginner's. I did it with no trail experience but (a) am an idiot and (b) I did spend a lot of time racing and jumping bmxs when younger so not a total newbie. Most of it isn't technical and you can always walk the drop-offs - main thing is an ability to miss trees and be fit enough for the hills. I think you'd be fine but your call.

Steve, I have no idea what you are talking about mate ;-)

Ed, Dre probably coming as well so you may get to see a repeat of his superman impression he did last time we were there. I am off for a weekend of MTB and drinking with him in the Quantocks next week and furiously shopping for a helmet cam :-)

It's code for "I want my wheels to end up in the same shape as they started the day"
