A Brief History........

Coventry Triathletes, was renamed from the
Sentridge Club, and was originally formed
by Tony Nutt (still an active member) and
a colleague in November 1989.
The distinctive club "kit" modelled
in the photo was taken from cycling's "King
of the Mountains" design, with the colour
of the spot being changed due to an existing
club adopting the actual colours.

| The membership covers a wide area across the West Midlands and Warwickshire
and training arrangements and the local events we participate in reflect
this. The club organises and runs an annual Aquathlon based this year for
the first time at St Nicholas Park leisure centre and swimming pool.

 |
The club has grown from strength to strength
over the last few years and has members ranging
from Novice to World Age Group Triathletes and all ability levels in between.
The clubs membership enters a range of events
from local short / sprint triathlons to Nationally
recognised Olympic and Ironmanİ events across
the World. Club members also regularly compete
in Aquathlons, Marathons, Half Marathons,
Cycling Time Trials and a host of other competitive
and charity events.

the 2001 Hawaii Ironmanİ event. |
Club Training........

|
We have monthly bike rides all year
round conducted at a leisurely
pace, the main aim is of being a social ride, to allow members to
mix and have a chat. It also provides the opportunity to explore
different areas with someone who knows the locality. This year we
plan to hold some of the rides around local triathlon race courses,
so that members can familiarise themselves with the route (and any
hills of course!). Times and meeting locations are organised closer
to the time of the event and further details can be found on the
following message board.
Swimming sessions provide the
other main
opportunity for socialising with
members.
Through the winter we hold a
Sunday evening
session with the club's coaches
at the Abbey
Fields pool in Kenilworth. This
is an hour
long session, from 5:45pm where
we have the
exclusive use of the pool. From
April to
October, water temperature permitting,
we
have the use of the man-made
lake at the
Water Trust, Market Bosworth
for open water
swim sessions.
We also generally hold a "training camp" weekend at Market Bosworth
some time during the season. Again a good social occasion with a
B-B-Q and a few beers to pass the evening around the camp
fire..................... The club National Relay Championships held
at Holme Pierrepoint (the national watersports
centre), have become a firm favourite with
club members setting up camp at the event
for the Saturday and Sunday racing schedule. |
If you are interested in any of these events you can contact the club
via the 'Contact Us' icon at the top of this page, we
would be happy to hear from you. You can always try things out before you
decide to join but here is the link to our
membership page. We also have a link HERE to the club constitution.
