Club Training

Tuesday Morning Swim Sessions

at City Of Coventry Swimming Pool

The Tuesday morning swim sessions are run by City of Coventry Swimming Club and they provide a coach (either Robin Leonard or Adam Whitehead). The sessions run from 5.30-7.30am (although you can get in late or leave early) in the main pool. Doors open at 5.15am for 15 minutes and then open again at about 5.45am.

The session typically consists of a mixture of drills and pace work and if you stay for the full two hours you'll do up to 4000m plus, but this varies depending on pace and ability. Swimmers tend to be in lanes with swimmers of similar ability so you don't end up getting your feet smacked by some human fish.

If you want to do the sessions long term you need to join Coventry Swimming Club - It's about £20 and Robin the coach has all the forms. You can try it out for a few weeks (which you can do so at no charge) and then join if you enjoy it!! There's a monthly training fee of £13 which, if you go to every session, is a bargain (it works out cheaper than a public swim and you get 2 hours of coaching thrown in)

Thursday Evening Spin Sessions

at Fitness First Health Club

The spin sessions start on 4th October.

The classes will take place every Thursday evening from 7-8:30pm. We are very fortunate to have the services of Martin “spin, spin, spin” Burder as coach for the sessions, and he will bring his usual mix of energy, enthusiasm and dodgy music to the classes.  Martin will also be offering advice on bike positioning and pedal technique, and we will also look to re-start the ’fab abs’ session afterwards (you know you want to!)

The cost for the sessions will be £2.50 for club members and £3 for non members – and this year the £3 fee will also apply to any Fitness First members who want to join the session. Money will be payable at the end of each session to Martyn Brunt,  Joe Reynolds or Mark Stewart.

There are plenty of bikes in the studio, some ground rules please folks:

-          Please bring a towel to clean up (mop up…) your bike afterwards

-          Make sure you bring plenty to drink during the session

-          If you have a heart rate monitor, it will prove extremely useful. However if you don’t, its not essential

-          Make sure you have appropriate indoor kit and trainers (the pedals are toe-clips)

-          Cov Tri are paying to hire the spin studio only. We are allowed to use the changing rooms and showers, and there is a bar where we can purchase drinks and refreshments. However we can’t use any of the other gym facilities (running machines, weights, studios) or visit the gym at other times.
